Summit is a team of experienced and highly qualified roofers. We support a number of apprentices through nationally recognised schemes, bringing skilled job opportunities to local people and increasing our pool of talented roofers.
Business Owner and Roofing Supervisor
Qualifications: NVQ roofing qualifications: fully trained PV panels (solar panels) installer and approved installer of EPDM rubber membrane flat roof systems. Adam has also undertaken courses with the South Wales and South West Roof Training Group, a CITB-accredited assessment centre.
Experience: 26 years.
The job I’m most proud of: Philps Bakery, Praze, Cornwall. This was a complete re-roof carried out during the early years of Summit Roofing Solutions. While it was small in size, there were many complex details to complete which included raking eaves, ridges and abutments. This job was finished off with traditional clay ridge tiles, vertical hung barge slate and welded lead apron details to extractors and chimneys. The project has since been used as a case study for many years for students completing their NVQ training at Southwest Roof Training Group.
When I’m not roofing I like to… Take part in different sporting activities and spend time with my family.
Supervisor
Qualifications: Level 2 NVQ Diploma Roof Slater and Tiler, LSTA Basic Lead Welding Course, CSCS Blue Card & First Aider at Work.
Experience: 11 years.
The job I’m most proud of: Lidden Road, Penzance. This one had a mixture of different roofing elements, including mitre hip, valleys, hips, Velux windows and a mixture of lead work. Very satisfying from a technical point of view.
When I’m not roofing I like to… Same as Adam – it’s all about sport and family!
Lead Roofer
Qualifications: NOCN Cskills Level 2; NVQ Diploma in Roof Slating and Tiling; CSCS Blue Card.
Experience: 4 years, having started as an apprentice.
The job I’m most proud of: Tregenna Castle Village, Plot 10. The job had lots of detail including four mitred hips – it’s rare to come across these types of roofs.
When I’m not roofing I like to… Get out on my road bike around West Cornwall, pretending to be a professional cyclist!
Lead Roofer

Experience: 3 years’ roofing experience – Kyle started with Summit as an apprentice.
The job I’m most proud of: A roof in Helford, as it covered all aspects of roofing and the views were ‘ansum.
When I’m not roofing… I’m playing football or on the golf course.

Experience: Tyler is a second-year apprentice who has passed his End Point Assessment (EPA) after spending two years at South Devon College on block release undertaking a specialist Roofing Standard.

The job I’m most proud of is… On a project in Gulval, when I slated with Brazilian grey green slates vertically and mitred for the first time. The work was judged to be of a very good standard.
When I’m not roofing… I’m either playing or training for football.
Apprentice Roofer
Experience: A first-year apprentice.
Qualifications: Currently attending South Devon College on block release, working towards a Level 2 Diploma in Roof Slating and Tiling.
The job I’m most proud of is… the Jampot Cafe, Gwithian. It was my first natural slate job as an apprentice roofer.
When I’m not roofing… I’m usually doing something football-related!

The job I’m most proud of is: Meadowside, with grey Marley Modern Tiles – it was my first job with tiles.
When I’m not roofing… I’m fixing my car.
Apprentice Roofer

The job I’m most proud of is… Barncoose, Redruth, where I learned how to cut valleys and lay ridge.
When I’m not roofing… I’m usually playing football.

Qualifications: Working towards his End Point Assessment (EPA) at South Devon College on block release undertaking a specialist Roofing Standard.
The job I’m most proud of is… A job in Barncoose, Redruth. It was a plot of three houses that were staggered against each other. I was able to be really hands-on and complete job tasks by myself to a high quality.
When I’m not roofing I’m usually… Boxing – I love it. I spend my spare time either training or waiting to train.
Administrator
Experience: 3 months
What I do: I maintain good communications between Summit Roofing Solutions and customers and suppliers by responding to emails and phone calls efficiently, and keeping up to date on jobs, queries and appointments. It’s all about ensuring we can provide the best service possible!
What I like about my job: I really enjoy speaking to customers and keeping good comms flowing between our teams on the roofs and our clients. I also get great satisfaction in keeping the office department organised in an environmentally friendly way, and using new technologies to make our processes even more efficient.
When I’m not working with Summit I like to… Socialise with my family and friends.
