Flat Roofing in Cornwall

Why flat roofing

Flat roofing can be a great choice for both residential and commercial properties. In fact, we’ve seen a real upsurge in flat roofing in Cornwall in recent years – particularly in the EPDM product (see below). This is partly because ultra-modern box-shaped designs are popular with architects.

There are many benefits to flat roofs, including:

  • Versatility. They can be used for garages, extensions, rooftop gardens, terraces, or as additional outdoor living spaces, providing extra functional areas for residents or employees.
  • Accessibility. You need to get those solar panels or satellite dish up? No problem on a flat roof. Access for repairs tends to be easier too.
  • Energy efficiency. With the right materials and insulation, flat roofs can contribute to improved energy efficiency.

Our flat roofing services

Summit Roofing Solutions offers new installations, repairs and replacements for flat roofing across Cornwall.

We’ve all seen tired- or unhappy-looking flat roofs. It’s very important your contractor protects against common problems such as poor drainage and ponding, water infiltration, blistering and membrane damage, and incorrect sealing of flashing.

Installed correctly, with good standard materials, you’re never going to see these problems and your roof will last for decades. Summit has successfully installed flat roofing in Cornwall in hundreds of commercial and residential properties. We offer two installation types.

EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) roofing

This is a synthetic rubber material commonly used in flat or low-slope roofing applications. EPDM roofing is highly durable and flexible, allowing it to withstand a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions without cracking or breaking. It has a long lifespan, typically lasting 30 years or more with proper maintenance.

Summit Roofing Solutions is an approved contractor of FLEX-R, a very high-quality single-ply membrane EPDM product. Please note this product is a much higher quality than DIY-level systems – it really is the gold standard in flat roofing. Applied correctly by an approved contractor like Summit, it has an incredibly long life.

Firbreglass roofing

Fibreglass roofing (also known as GRP, or glass-reinforced plastic roofing) is made from thin layers of fibreglass matting saturated with a polyester resin and then cured to form a solid, durable surface.

It is lightweight, making it easy and quick to install. It also provides excellent resistance to UV rays, which helps prevent fading and deterioration over time. Fibreglass roofing is also relatively low-maintenance and has a smooth finish, making it aesthetically appealing.
